PNEUMOPRESSING IN TREATMENT OF METABOLIC SYNDROME
National Medical University, Kiev, Ukraine National Akademy of Postgraduate Education, Kiev, Ukraine

Treatment of metabolic syndrome (MS) undoubtedly requires a complex approach with the components of the treatment that may vary depending on clinical manifestation of the syndrome. One of the methods applied at different variants of MS is pneumopressing or a massage with pneumocuffs. It successfully complements any other pharmacological and non-medical methods.

The method of volumetrical pneumopressing is performed with the complex of devices «Bioregulator-004» developed by I.V.Tarshinov at the engineering technical organization «New in Medicine». It is registered in the State Register of Medical Devices licensed to use in the Ukraine. The complex comprises an operation block, power block, air compressor and a unified pneumogland protected with a number of patents.

Therapeutical modes of the device complex are characterized with the size, direction, duration and speed with which the pressure of the „running wave“ is distributed into, consequently filling with the pressed air, sections of a unified pneumocuff that is placed on the body of the patient (hand, leg, spine, belly, head). The therapeutic effect is obtained due to mechanical compression of tissues and stretching of the skin.

Physiological effect of pneumopressing is multifaceted and is determined by neuro-reflectoral reactions, a direct mechanical impact on tissues and organs as well as by changes on the hymoral level of the body. Pneumopressing produces effects on exteroreceptors, such as pain-, termal, barorecepters), proprioreceptors in muscles, sinews, interoreceptors of internal organs; actively stimulates microcirculations in tissues and organs, improves peripheral and systemic hemodynamics, accelerates nerve conduction and regeneration, reduces trophic and vasomotor disorders.

Pneumopressing improves lymphcirculation, speeds up lymph drainage; the lymphatic system is positively influenced by a reflector effect, which is followed by facilitation of tonic and vasomotor function of lymphatic vessels. Improvement of blood flow facilitates delivery of nutritional substances and oxygen in the tissues, normalizes oxidative and restorative processes.

Depending on the force of pressing and duration of the impact of the pneumopressing functional condition of the cortex, it decreases nervous agitation, reinforces inhibition of reflexes in the cortex which results in a manifested relaxation and slight drowse; it reduces pain and fatigue, enhances attention and perception, restores memory and working capacity.

The list of positive effects of pneumopressing as well as its accumulated experience in treatment of metabolic syndrome allows recommending it as a non-specific medicinal device with a wide application sphere. It can be applied both independently and as a background for pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
