Emerging and establishing of psychoanalysis is marked with a curious fact. Most of patients providing materials for psychoanalytic ideas were women, however the interpretation of these ideas incorporate „male“ psychology. This «fallis core» of the psychoanalysis was noticed by Karen Horney who reworked a number of Freudian ideas and offered her vision of peculiarities of “male” and postulated feminine psychology. If the founder of the psychoanalysis confessed that irrespective of following decades of experience he was unable to understand what a woman wants, Karen Horney not only focused her attention on peculiarities of feminine psychology but singled out their basic compounds, which comprised into an accurate conception on development of the girl and typical problems that arise during woman’s lifetime and breed neuroses. Karen Horney strived against the assumption of feminine biological constitution as somewhat inferior.

Considering strengthening of the feminist movement in the last decades, new powers that women gain in business and politics give way to new tendencies such as phobia of women and same-sex marriages. Therefore it is feasible to review and reconsider the psychoanalytical ideas that deal with peculiarities of feminine psychology. My work discusses Karen Horney’s postulates dealt with reconsideration of the castration anxiety and „penis envy”, the nature of functional disturbances in women, frigidity, maternal conflicts, marital problems, male fear of women and also neurotic need for love.

Turning to Karen Horney heritage is as a rule limited to study her pioneer theory of neurosis, neurotic conflict, the process of self –analysis and psychoanalytical process. In the given study the accent is laid on her original approach to feminine psychology.
