TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION IN THE EVALUATION OF FUNCTIONAL CONDITION OF CEREBRUM STEM AFFERENT WAYS
Sanatorium “Barnaulskiy”, Vertebroneurology Centre, Altai region, Russia

Introduction: Magnetic stimulation allows estimating a functional condition of conducting ways of nervous system. Under the certain conditions of development of pathological process there can be an increase SED on central nervous system (CNS) at pathology. Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a new method of an estimation of a functional condition of conducting ways of nerves system (first of all, pyramidal ways) in clinical neurology and neurophysiology. In Altai region our colleagues have offered methods which to estimate a functional condition of cerebrum stem afferent ways (Remnev A.G. Invention RU 2163460, in Russian).

Objectives: Methods and study material. Researched 86 neurological sound persons at an age from 18 before 54 years. Realized magnetic stimulation cervical spine division at a rate of the big occipital hole with the registration of motor answers of circular muscles of the eye. Analysed latent period and caused answer amplitude.

Methods: We have created a new method for diagnostics of realization of excitation of an afferent ways of cerebrum stem with this method. Value a functional condition of afferent ways of cerebrum stem beside neurological sound patients by the transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Results: Received results be indicative of that magnetic stimulation cervical spine division was characterize by the firm registration of motor answers of circular muscles of eye with a latent period on the right 25,7±0,3 ms, on the left 25,8±0,4 ms. Note that latent period and amplitude of caused answers on the right and on the left realistically did not differ.

Investigated 38 patients with multiple sclerosis (the cerebrospinal form) in the age of from 19 till 38 years.

Received results be indicative of that magnetic stimulation cervical spine division was characterize by the firm registration of motor answers of circular muscles of eye with a latent period 27,4-38,1 ms.

Conclusions: Thereby, noninvasiv strategy magnetic stimulation can be useful at the evaluation of functional condition of the afferent ways of cerebrum stem beside sound and sick with striking these structures. The latent period of motor answers of circular muscles of eye at a pathology is increased.
